An honor has been bestowed on Japan 2 Earth's logo partner, the Shimoda Tea Garden. Its representative, Ms Misuzu Shimoda, was recently selected as a recipient of an award from the Kumamoto Nichinichi Shimbun, a local newspaper in Kumamoto Prefecture.
Promoting Local Culture and Community Building
Just this month, Ms Misuzu Shimoda of the Shimoda Tea Garden in Yamato Town, Kumamoto Prefecture, was awarded the 74th Kumanichi Prize. The award is presented by the Kumamoto Nichinichi Shimbun to individuals and organizations for their enduring contributions to community development in various fields such as academics, education, culture, sports, and society.
Ms Shimoda was recognized for her extensive efforts in promoting local culture and community development. Her accomplishments include the establishment of a library in her hometown and restoration of cultural assets like terraced rice fields and irrigation channels damaged by the 2016 Kumamoto earthquake.
