About the Role:
We are seeking a dynamic and passionate journalist/reporter to join our team, specializing in sumo wrestling, and aiming to supplement and enhance our existing coverage of the sport. This role is tailored for individuals who are knowledgeable about sumo, enthusiastic about sumo reporting and committed to delivering high-quality content.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide in-depth coverage of sumo basho events in Japan, delivering engaging and informative reports, analyses, and updates.
- Create compelling, story-driven content for SportsLook, spotlighting the unique narratives, traditions, and personalities within the world of Japanese sumo.
- Connect with our audience on all SportsLook platforms, offering profound insights into sumo wrestling and building emotional connections with our readers.
Requirements:
- 3-5+ years of experience as a sports reporter or in a similar role, with a proven track record of producing high-quality sports content.
- A profound passion for sumo wrestling and an in-depth understanding of the sport's intricacies, history, and culture.
- Outstanding communication and storytelling abilities, with a knack for conveying the essence of sumo to a global audience.
- Ability to connect with diverse audiences and engage them across multiple platforms.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with a strong grasp of Japanese sumo terminology and culture.
- Excellent editing and proofreading skills, with a meticulous attention to detail and the ability to produce error-free content.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Creative problem-solving skills and the ability to think outside the box and bring new ideas to the table
- Extensive knowledge of sumo wrestling, its tournaments, prominent wrestlers and the sumo community is a must-have requirement.
