About the Role:
We are seeking a talented and experienced sports editor to join our team. As a sports editor, you will be responsible for leading the creation and publishing of high-quality sports content, working with a team of writers and ensuring the quality and accuracy of all content published on the website.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the creation of content, including articles, blog posts, videos and podcasts
- Edit and proofread content before publication, ensuring accuracy, quality and adherence to our style guide and tone of voice
- Collaborate with the website's technical team to ensure content is properly formatted for the website
- Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in Japanese sports and identify emerging trends and stories to cover
- Contribute to the analysis of website traffic and engagement metrics to measure the success of the content strategy
Requirements:
- 2+ years of experience as a sports editor or similar role, with a proven track record of producing high-quality sports content
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with a strong understanding of Japanese sports and culture
- Excellent editing and proofreading skills, with a meticulous attention to detail and the ability to produce error-free content
- Knowledge of WordPress or a similar content management system (CMS)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Passion for sports and a deep understanding of the latest developments and trends in the world of Japanese sports
- Creative problem-solving skills and the ability to think outside the box and bring new ideas to the table
- Extensive knowledge of Japanese sports, leagues, and Japanese athletes is a must-have requirement
